...Shall find me unafraid

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
- William Ernest Henley

Tomorrow at 6am I embark upon the trip a decade in the making. I will be heading to Seoul South Korea.

Quite honestly 24 hours ago I was crazy afraid, simply because of the unknown, of rejection, of not being able to speak korean at all. But today I began meditating on God's word and His promises for me, and I was prayed for yesterday by a precious church body. They spoke over me words of wisdom and of encouragement.

Then I remembered the words of the poem of above, from a recent movie. This was the poem that Nelson Mandel memorized and meditated on during his long and injust imprisonment.

So tomorrow as I step foot on to the airplane that will carry me on a journey of healing, peace, and answers I remember these words... "And yet the menace of the years finds, and shall find, me unafraid..."

I invite you as my family member, friend, or brother or sister in the Lord to follow me as I traverse this incredible journey. I will be updating this blog every couple of days so please keep up with me and pray for me as the Lord brings it to your mind.

"We have surmounted all the perils and endured all the agonies of the past. We shall provide against and thus prevail over the dangers and problems of the future, withhold no sacrifice, grudge no toil, seek no sordid gain, fear no foe. All will be well. We have, I believe, within us the life-strength and guiding light by which the tormented world around us may find the harbour of safety, after a storm-beaten voyage." Winston Churchhill

About Me

My Photo
I am crazy in love with God. I live in the middle of paradise, doing what I love the most. I am undeniably random and spontaneous. I love a good laugh, the kind that makes your stomach muscles hurt.
